CAMPAIGN FOR REDUCTION OF CARBON EMISSIONS AND MARINE POLLUTION

More recycling, less carbon

We are thrilled to announce our latest campaign that aims to create a positive impact on the environment.
For customers who purchase $100,000 or more worth of RTLS products from us, we will collect 1 ton of plastic waste from the Baltic Sea region. Our goal is to prevent 20 million metric tonnes of microplastic pollution per tonne from entering the sea and to prevent the release of 32 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere, as released into nature every time 1 tonne of waste is collected using tradional methods.
For every RTLS project order over $100,000, 1 tonne of plastic waste will be collected from the sea by our autonomous sea cleaning vehicles.
Per tonne of plastic waste to be collected;

Questions about Plastic Waste and Carbon Emissions

With the recycling of 1 tonne of plastic waste;
  • alternative text 5774 kwh energy is saved
  • alternative text 41 tonnes of greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions reduced
1 plastic bottle in the sea releases an average of 25g of CO2.
With the burning of 1 Pet bottle, an average of 75gr-100gr CO2 is released.
One plastic bottle in the sea produces 20 million micro-plastic particles.
1kg of plastic waste in the seas releases a total of 2.5kg of CO2
Yes, microplastics are harmful to marine species. Microplastics are plastic particles less than 5 mm in size and are commonly found in the seas. These small particles spread into the surrounding water, seabed and marine organisms.

Microplastics can pose various harms to marine organisms. Firstly, these particles can be difficult for organisms to digest and can damage their digestive system. Some microplastics may contain toxic chemicals or release toxic compounds into the surrounding water. This can harm marine species and increase their risk of death.

Furthermore, microplastics move through the food chain of marine species. Small organisms feed on microplastic particles and these particles can be transferred to large fish or other marine organisms. As a result, toxic substances contained in microplastics may accumulate within marine species.

Exposure of marine organisms to microplastics can have a negative impact on important biological processes such as reproduction and growth. It is also thought that microplastics may have a widespread impact in marine ecosystems. For example, the sticking of plankton to microplastics can reduce their ability to photosynthesise and have negative effects on ecosystem.

It is therefore important to tackle microplastic pollution and reduce the entry of microplastics into the seas. This requires taking actions such as reducing the use of plastics, recycling and proper waste management. At the same time, awareness raising, research and policy reforms also play an important role in solving this problem.

It is difficult to give an exact number of how many tonnes of plastic waste is mixed into the Baltic Sea annually. However, one of the environmental problems of the Baltic Sea is plastic pollution. The fact that the Baltic Sea is located in a geographical location with densely populated areas and industrial activities increases the risk of plastic wastes reaching the sea.
"Plastic Pollution in the Baltic Sea" report prepared by DenizTemiz Derneği/TURMEPA: The report includes the current situation of plastic pollution in the Baltic Sea and the studies carried out to reduce this problem. According to the report, approximately 10 kilograms of plastic waste exists per square kilometre in the Baltic Sea. Approximately 80% of these wastes originate from land sources and 20% from marine sources.
Yes, the Zero Waste Blue project aims to prevent and monitor marine pollution. Zero Waste Blue project aims to clean our seas, lakes and rivers.
Yes, emission credits can be used for this campaign within the scope of emission reduction.
An average of 27 tonnes of CO2 will be saved after collecting 1 tonne of plastic waste from the sea.
1 kg of non-recycled plastic waste releases 700gr of CO2.
Plastic Footprint is the entire process starting from the production process to the end of the recycling process.

Questions on technical issues

Within the scope of the campaign, Doris S1 - Autonomous / Unmanned Sea Cleaning and Sea data collection vehicle will be used. Doris S1: is a high-tech autonomous level 4 technology, capable of processing big data on topics such as AI, image processing, data analytics and transferring this data securely to online servers after it collects the waste from Sea. The Doris S1 project is an unmanned sea cleaning vehicle that has obtained an international driving certificate and has collaborated with Google on autonomous safe driving.
Within the scope of the campaign, Doris S1 - Autonomous / unmanned Sea Cleaning vehicle will be used. The waste collection capacity of Doris S1 is 1 tonne at a single operation period.
Drone technologies will also be used within the scope of the campaign to detect pollution on the sea.
Proper management of plastic waste is an important step in the fight against climate change. Using one tonne of plastic waste for recycling or energy production reduces crude oil consumption and energy costs. This is a powerful way to reduce carbon footprint. In addition, burning plastics produces energy while also reducing carbon emissions.
Within the scope of the campaign, Doris S1 - Autonomous / unmanned Sea Cleaning and Sea data collection vehicle will be used. CO2 and NH3 levels will be measured to determine the chemical pollution of the sea, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and O2 levels of the sea will be measured to determine the early detection of mucilage pollution. These measurements will be reported on the Dashboard on a location basis.
Wastes collected from the sea will be reported on the Dashboard on location basis. All user credentials for the Dashboard will be provided to the company with which co-operation is made.
Photographs and videos of waste collected from the sea, as well as data such as location, type, weight, weight, etc. will be made available on the Dashboard with the user credentials provided to the cooperating company.
Photographs and videos of the wastes collected from the sea and carried out activities will be given to the cooperating companies within the scope of the campaign.
Similar studies have been carried out in the Baltic region with the partnership of Kadıköy Municipality and IBB, as well as in Yalova with the cooperation of Yalova Governorship and Municipality, and in Rumkale with the cooperation of Gaziantep Governorship.
Recycling of plastic wastes collected from the sea will be supplied to recycling facilities.
